A SoundCloud Profile Checklist for Independent Artists
SoundCloud remains a place where scenes form, DJs dig for tracks and early fans find artists before anyone else. A tidy, active profile makes the most of it. Work through this list.
Profile basics
- [ ] Profile name matches your artist name on every other platform.
- [ ] Custom profile URL that is short and easy to type.
- [ ] Clear profile picture and a header image sized for the layout.
- [ ] Bio that says what you make and where to find you, with links to streaming, socials and your sign-up page.
- [ ] City or region set if local discovery matters to you.
Tracks
- [ ] Artwork on every upload; no blank or placeholder images.
- [ ] Titles formatted consistently: "Artist - Title" or just "Title," not a mix.
- [ ] Main genre set accurately, plus relevant tags.
- [ ] Descriptions that include credits, release info and a link to the full release.
- [ ] Downloads enabled deliberately (for DJ tools, edits or free releases) or disabled.
Organization
- [ ] Spotlight or pinned tracks show your best and most recent work.
- [ ] Playlists or sets that group releases, mixes and demos.
- [ ] Old test uploads and low-quality demos removed or set to private.
Activity
- [ ] Reposts used thoughtfully, to support artists and labels you genuinely like.
- [ ] Comments answered, especially timed comments on new uploads.
- [ ] Regular uploads: edits, mixes, works in progress and full releases.
Connection to the rest of your plan
- [ ] New releases posted on release day with a link to all streaming services.
- [ ] SoundCloud link included in your email and press kit where it fits your genre.
