Community Management for Artists: A Simple Weekly Routine
A community is not the same as a follower count. It is the group of people who reply, show up, share and buy. Looking after it takes a routine, not inspiration. Here is one that fits into a few hours a week.
Monday: Listen
- Read comments and messages across your main platforms.
- Note recurring questions, inside jokes, song requests and the names of people who show up often.
Tuesday: Reply properly
- Answer the questions you noted. Thoughtful replies to a few people do more than generic hearts on everything.
- Thank anyone who made something: a cover, fan art, a playlist.
Wednesday: Share something just for the community
A voice memo, a demo snippet, a photo from rehearsal, or a poll about the next merch design. It should feel like a reward for paying attention, not an ad.
Thursday: Spotlight fans
Repost (with permission) fan content or highlight a regular member. People stay where they feel seen.
Friday: Plan ahead
Look at the coming weeks: releases, shows, livestreams. Decide what the community hears first and how.
House rules
If you run a group chat, Discord server or similar space:
- Write three or four short rules and pin them.
- Decide what you will remove (spam, harassment, scams) and remove it consistently.
- Appoint one or two trusted moderators as it grows.
Signs it is working
- More replies from the same people over time.
- Fans answering each other's questions.
- Early, steady activity on release day without you having to push hard.
Signs it needs attention
- Only you are posting.
- Questions go unanswered for days.
- The only messages from you are links to buy or stream.
If you want a team to handle this consistently, MusicPromoToday provides community management for artists in every genre and every territory.
